I don't know if this is universal but it seems that it would be or should be. It is common (according to me) to eat everything in sight the couple of days before the dieting starts. To honor that tradition, I made mac n cheese for dinner tonight. Not just for tradition, I also needed to use up the Half and Half. It's tough to diet with Half and Half around. I also ate some Christmas chocolates but I am not recording any of this b/c I don't have to if I don't want to until tomorrow.
I bought a scale, as well as some new towels. I'm going to weigh myself on Wednesdays because "weigh" and "Wednesday" both start with W. That's not true. I mean it's true that they both start with W but that's not the reason for the Wednesday weigh in. I think a mid-week weigh in will give me adequate recovery time, if necessary, after a weekend. So that's the plan. I'm not going to blog what I weigh. I'm not that comfortable in the public eye just yet but The Sparkers say I'm going to weigh 129 lbs by May 22.
I put the new white, digital scale in my bathroom, right by the tub. On Wednesdays, when I get out of the shower in the morning, I will light upon the scale like a little bird and hope that I weigh enough for it to register a number.
Guess what was in my email this morning? A Sparkpeople contest for an IPad! I knew this was the right plan for me. I can lose weight AND enter contests so 2012 is my year to achieve. I must admit, not to blow my own horn, but I am pretty good at New Year's Resolutions. A couple of years ago I resolved to do more crossword puzzles and now, I do crosswords every single day sometimes in pen!
This afternoon I did my first Sparkpeople strength training. I have to hand it to them. They tell you what to do everyday and they have little demo videos to show you what it should look like, how many reps, how many sets, etc. All you need to use their system is a computer, an ironing board, a blue rolly thingy, handweights or a beach towel and room to do the exercises. I use the ironing board in my bedroom as a computer station (it also holds stacks of photos, my car insurance policy, dirty clothes, jewelry, and the iron which I'll probably just put in a closet b/c I don't iron).
I did the workout and got 10 points, which seems like a measly number of points for having done pushups with my knees on the blue rolly thing. I don't know where I got that thing. It has to be my sister's because I don't know where I would get one on my own. I will most likely talk about it in a later post when I will also cover those big workout balls.
